Mondeor Restaurant / Somerset West

Mondeor Restaurant is a hidden family-friendly gem in Somerset West. It’s attached to a beautiful Garden Center and you can combine some plant shopping with your visit.

The restaurant itself is a paradise for children offering a huge outside play area with two different jungle gyms, an open lawn, jumping castle, a narrow splash pool for those hot summer days, a sandpit and much more! While the children explore the generous outside play area, the parents can sit down and relax on their veranda or on one of the wooden dining tables under the cover of trees right next to the play area.

During the colder winter months, you can settle down inside close to their fireplace which will keep you warm and cozy. They also just recently introduced some live music events and want to make this a regular thing! So now you can even enjoy some live entertainment during your visit and fully enjoy the experience.

Their playground features a lot of cool apparatus for children of all ages. You will find an old speed boat, a huge fireman pole to slide down, swings, monkey bars, balancing tyres, a sandpit, slides, a jumping castle and slip and slide in summer. The narrow splash pool is ideal for children in summer. They can hop in and have some splashing fun. So don’t forget to bring along some spare clothes and towels in summer.

Our Experience

We’ve come to realize that you always find the best kid-friendly restaurants attached to a Garden Center! We didn’t expect such a great play area for the kids and our children absolutely loved it. The most exciting thing for them was the splash pool and the jumping castle. We didn’t bring any spare clothes, so they could only walk around in it. But it was still fun nonetheless. Next time we go there, we make sure to bring along a bathing suit. We sat outside right next to one of the jungle gyms, so we could always keep an eye on the kids and watch them play.

The food was quite yummy and we all went home with a full tummy and very happy kids. So it’s definitely worth a visit and even in winter you can sit inside next to the fireplace while the kids can have some fun outside (when it’s not raining).
